Making A Film

Producers or production companies are responsible for:

Money ------> Funding and Spending

Ideas ------> Script and Treatment

Organisation ------> Cast, Crew, Location etc...

Distribution is responsible for:

Release of Film ------> When, Where, Cinemas, DVDS

Marketing ------> Publicity and Promotion

Delivery ------> Actual Transportation

There are 2 types of distributors...

Major Studios I.E UNIVERSAL

• Has money and equipment to produce and distribute film
• Can reach audiences on a global scale
• Produce mainly Hollywood films or big British films

Independent Studios I.E Working Title

• Small scale and lower budget films
• Relies solely on other companies funding towards there films

British Film Funding

• Equity Investors - Gives money in return for a cut of the profits.
• Distributors - Share Profits.
• Broadcasters - Such as BBC, SKY, FILMFOUR etc...negotiate deals to screen films on their TV channels.
